On May 2, 2014 a jury in New Brunswick, New Jersey handed down a $3.5 million trial verdict to a carpenter who was severely injured after falling from a scaffold. The accident happened when a wheel of the five-foot high scaffold the carpenter was working on became caught in a hole in the floor and tipped over with carpenter on it. He sustained broken ribs, a rotator cuff tear, a herniated disk, collapsed lungs and other injuries requiring surgery and precluding him from returning to work.
