Injured Deliveryman Settles Monmouth County Trip And Fall Work Injury Lawsuit For $1.5 Million

A deliveryman who tripped over an allegedly improperly exposed pipe while delivering furniture to a site in Secaucus, NJ recently settled his personal injury lawsuit for $1.5 million. The plaintiff underwent physical therapy, epidural injections and multiple back surgeries after the accident. Because the plaintiff was injured in the course of his employment, he received workers’ compensation benefits, thus the settlement in his personal injury case will be offset by a workers’ compensation lien. Among the parties sued by the plaintiff, was his employer, who sublet the warehouse where the injury occurred. The case settled in mediation that took place just weeks before trial.
