The estate of a man who passed away from cancer recently settled a medical malpractice suit against a plastic surgeon who allegedly failed to refer the decedent to a cancer specialist. The plastic surgeon removed a lesion on the side of the man’s face three times without referring him to an oncologist or cancer specialist, despite alleged signs of cancer at the site of the lesion. Cancer eventually spread throughout the man's body, requiring surgeries to his face, neck and jaw, which resulted in deformities. The cancer continued to spread, and the man eventually passed away from it at the age of 75. This case settled prior to trial in Monmouth County, NJ.
