Passaic County, NJ Semitrailer Accident Lawsuit Settles for $5 Million Dollars

A motorist who sustained permanent back injuries in a rear-end collision caused by a semitrailer recently accepted $5 million dollars to settle his lawsuit. At the time of impact, the driver of the semitrailer had fallen asleep and was traveling approximately 55 miles per hour. The plaintiff motorist sustained two fractured vertebrae and various disc herniations, requiring surgery and preventing him from returning to work. Parties sued in the case included the driver of the semitrailer, his employer and the business where he last made a delivery prior to the accident. A key pre-trial ruling in the case determined the employer's liability as a matter of law.
