Patient Who Sustained Brain Injury due to Deprival of Oxygen During Shoulder Surgery Settles Medical Malpractice Lawsuit for $1.24 Million

A $1.24 million settlement was recently reached in a Union County, New Jersey medical malpractice lawsuit alleging a brain injury caused by deprival of oxygen during shoulder surgery. It was alleged by the plaintiff that the attending anesthetist failed to adhere to the proper standard of care for checking blood pressure and pulse during plaintiff's shoulder surgery at Trinitas Regional Medical Center. As a result, the plaintiff was deprived of oxygen during the procedure and now suffers from cognitive impairment, memory loss and is unable to return to work.
